Industry - Overview and Categories of Different Industries

⏩WHAT REALLY INDUSTRY IS?

Production of goods from raw materials is genrally known as Industry. Raw material means things or materials which are derived from agriculture and minerals from its basic form With the help of machines in the factories. We use these industrial products according to our needs. 

Numbers of industries in a country determines its level of progress. The country is called developed if it has more of industries. On the contrary it is called as developing country if it has less number of industries.

In the punjab there are two types of industries. One of it is heavy industry. Heavy industry is an industry in which products are manufactured with the help of heavy machinery. Other type of industry is Cottage Industry. Cottage industries are such industries which are setup at homes or in small units.. In the case of a cottage industry, members of a family or vey small number of people work together and produce the goods which are sold by themselves.

Heavy industries and cottage industries in the Punjab are given below:

⏩1. Cotton Textile Industry

Cotton cloth is manufactured from cotton. The manufacture of cotton textiles is Pakistan's biggest industry. The province is self-sufficient in cotton textile needs and much of the surplus cotton cloth is exported to other countries and considerable earnings are made. A large number of textile mills are located in Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Muzaffaragh, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Okara, Mianwali, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan.

⏩2. Silk Textile Industry

In the punjab, silk textiles industries are located at Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and multan. For silk cloth, silkworms are reared. These worms live on mulberry leaves. Silk is produced by these worms. Silk given out by these worms is pure. Besides pure milk, synthetic silk is also prepared. In our Province, most of the silk cloth is manufactured from synthetic fibre.

⏩3. Wollen Textile Industry

In the hilly and sandy areas of the     Punjab, goats and sheeps are reared. The wool produced by the sheeps is used for making wollen cloth. In the Punjab, wollen cloth industry is located at Jhang. Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Attock and Multan. In these cities, wollen carpets and wollen blankets are also woven.

⏩4. Electric Goods Industry:-

The best electric goods in Pakistan are manufactured in the Punjab province. Here mostly electric motors, electric fans, transformers, air conditioners and electric irons etc are manufactured. We export this commodity to different countrie. These factories are located at Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Lahore.

⏩5. Sugar Industry:-

In the Punjab, sugar mills are located at Bhakkar, Liah, Pattoki, Darya Khan, Jauharabad, Pasroor, Mandi Baha-ud-din, Jhang and Chishtian. Sugar is produced from sugar cane juice. Sugar cane is cultivated in the plains of the province.
